THE MISSION OF THE TEXAS STATE BOARD OF PLUMBING EXAMINERS

 In Uncategorized

For most Texans the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners is not something that is top of mind to our day to day lives.  Our goal with this post was to shed some light on this valuable governing body and all that it does for the plumbing industry, the environment, and the safety of most all Texans.

The mission of the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners is to help protect the health and safety of the citizens of the State of Texas by ensuring that our drinking water, air, and medical gases are safe to consume and that we may live and work in the safe conditions that properly installed plumbing systems are designed to provide.

Additionally, the State Board offers public and industry awareness programs to educate all Texans about plumbing systems as well as those professionals who instal residential and commercial plumbing systems. Education programs are also utilized to reach those considering the plumbing profession as a career.

The boards mission is simple and really boils down to this – “Through fair and consistent regulation of the plumbing industry, and by examining, licensing and registering plumbing professionals, the Board ensures that qualified individuals follow clear standards while protecting the citizens’ health and safety.”

Quality plumbing systems installed by qualified plumbers and inspected by qualified plumbing inspectors are critical to the health and safety of the Texas population because improperly installed plumbing systems can cause injury and death. Improperly installed plumbing systems can transmit diseases that include typhoid fever, diarrhea, cholera, and amoebic and bacillary dysentery.

The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners is a self supporting agency. Since its inception, the Board has not received any funds from sources other than the license, examination or other fees charged by the Board to license plumbers and plumbing inspectors. The fees collected by the Board have always exceeded expenditures. The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners has established three strategies to fulfill its mission to protect the health and safety of the citizens.
