|---|---|---|
| Pilot or thermocouple failure | Repair | These parts are replaceable on otherwise healthy units. |
| Failed heating element or thermostat | Repair | Electric components can be replaced quickly. |
| Leaking valve or connection | Repair | Valves and fittings can usually be replaced. |
| Water leaking from the tank body | Replacement | A leaking tank cannot be repaired and can fail suddenly. |
| Tank over 10 years with repeated problems | Replacement | A new unit is usually the better long-term value. |

Water Heater Repair FAQs
Why do I have no hot water?
On a gas water heater, the most common causes are a pilot light that went out, a faulty thermocouple, or a gas valve problem. On an electric unit, it is often a tripped breaker, a failed heating element, or a bad thermostat. We diagnose the cause and repair it when the tank is still in good condition.
Why is my water heater leaking?
Leaks can come from loose supply connections, the drain valve, or the temperature and pressure relief valve, and those can usually be repaired. If water is leaking from the tank itself, the tank has failed internally and needs replacement.
Why is my water heater making popping or rumbling noises?
Those sounds usually come from sediment that has built up in the bottom of the tank. Water trapped under the sediment boils and pops when the burner or element heats. Flushing the tank can help, but heavy buildup on an older tank is often a sign it is wearing out.
Is it worth repairing an old water heater?
For a unit under about 8 years old with a single failed part, repair is usually worth it. For tanks over 10 years old, or any tank that is leaking from the body, replacement typically makes more sense. We will tell you honestly which way we would go.
Do you repair tankless water heaters?
Yes. We repair and maintain tankless units from major brands, including descaling, which Houston’s hard water makes especially important. See our tankless water heater services.
Are water heater repairs guaranteed?
Yes. Water heater repairs are backed by our 2-year parts and labor warranty and our done right or it is free guarantee.
