Professional Drain Cleaning That Lasts

A clogged drain starts as an inconvenience and can quickly turn into a backup, water damage, or a sewage problem. Store-bought products might move a clog for a day or two, but they rarely remove the buildup that caused it.

Heaton Plumbing finds the cause, clears the line properly, and tests the drain before we leave. For heavy buildup, grease, and roots, we use hydro jetting. If clogs keep coming back, a video pipe inspection shows us exactly what is going on inside the line.

Keep Your Drains Flowing

  • Never pour grease or cooking oil down the kitchen drain
  • Use drain screens in showers and tubs to catch hair
  • Flush only toilet paper, not wipes, even ones labeled flushable
  • Run hot water after using the kitchen sink
  • Skip chemical drain cleaners, which can damage pipes
  • Schedule cleaning if a drain slows down repeatedly

Drain Cleaning FAQs

How do plumbers clean clogged drains?

Most clogs are cleared with a professional drain snake, or cable machine, that breaks up and pulls out the blockage. For heavy grease, sludge, or recurring clogs in larger lines, we use hydro jetting to scour the inside of the pipe clean. A camera inspection helps when clogs keep coming back.

Are chemical drain cleaners safe for my pipes?

We don’t recommend them. Harsh chemical cleaners can damage older pipes and fixtures, often only partly clear the clog, and make the job more hazardous for anyone who works on the drain afterward. Professional drain cleaning removes the blockage instead of just burning a small hole through it.

Why do my drains keep clogging?

Repeat clogs usually point to buildup further down the line, grease in kitchen drains, tree roots in the sewer line, or a damaged or sagging pipe. A video pipe inspection shows exactly what is causing the problem so it can be fixed for good.

Why are multiple drains backing up at once?

When several fixtures back up together, especially lower ones like tubs and floor drains, the blockage is usually in the main sewer line. Stop using water and call us. Main line clogs can lead to sewage backing up into the home. See our emergency plumbing service.

What is the difference between snaking and hydro jetting?

Snaking breaks through a clog with a rotating cable, which works well for most fixture and branch line clogs. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to clean the full inside diameter of the pipe, which is better for grease, sludge, and roots. Read more in our guide to hydro jetting vs. snaking.

Do you offer commercial drain cleaning?

Yes. We clean drains for restaurants, offices, retail spaces, and rental properties as part of our commercial plumbing services.
