Plumbing leaks can be frustrating for customers to deal with, but unfortunately most wont pick up the phone for for plumbing services/fixes. As its not top of mind and not an issue that is taken too seriously but unfortunately for many homeowners ignoring a small leak can turn into a massive issue. Here, we may be able to give some friendly reminders to our long-time customers on just how degenerative even a small leak can be. Lets take a closer look at this topic, the causes, problems, and ramifications of how even a small leak can impact your home and wallet.
Laura First of Networx wrote on WPTZ.com that plumbing leaks are responsible for 3 trillion gallons of wasted water and $6 billion of property damage each year in the U.S. She shared 12 other facts that customers need to know, including the following:
· The consequences of failing to detect or repair a leak in your plumbing are very serious. Wood and drywall can rot, a mold problem may develop, and your home’s foundation could be compromised.
· On the other hand, the cost to take care of a single leak is relatively low, averaging about $225-325 to find and fix it, a sum which may be covered, at least in part, by your homeowner’s insurance.
Leaks are easily fixable and easily preventable. Perhaps most importantly for your plumbing throughout your home is that fixing leaks equates to easy money. All that waster water is expensive and harmful for the environment (especially in drought stricken areas in many parts of the Southwest). At Heaton plumbing we take the time to educate our clients and to let them know we are here for them once leaks become an issue. Fix them immediately to minimize cost and prevent your self from having a much larger plumbing issue.
